About Home Care Lighthouse Point
We arrange non-clinical care inside people's own houses, and we spend more effort on who walks in than on anything else we do.
What this office is for
Non-clinical care inside private houses along the north Broward coast: help washing and dressing, safe movement from one room to the next, food cooked where it will be eaten, upkeep enough to keep a home working, and somebody in it who is good company.
No building to attend, and no nursing. Whatever turns out to be clinical is named as clinical and the household is sent to the right sort of provider — which loses us work and is the only answer worth giving.
What the office actually spends its time on is matching. Rotas, plans and invoices are mechanical; deciding which aide suits which household is not, and it is the one decision that most determines whether an arrangement lasts eighteen months or six weeks.
How the matching is done
Temperament counts as a requirement
A household that wants quiet company and one that wants somebody brisk and chatty need different people, and the task list looks identical in both cases. We ask about that first, and it is written into the plan alongside the practical detail.
Introductions before anything starts
The aide who would be coming meets the household before a working visit. Nothing hangs on it, which is the point: saying no is easy when no one has started yet.
Screened and trained before a plan
Background screening is completed and training to the Florida standard is documented before an aide is attached to a household. Nobody works provisionally while a check is outstanding.
Checked by somebody outside
The training files and the supervisory visits are examined by an outside accreditor, which is the gap between a claim about oversight and one that somebody independent has actually tested.
Four questions to ask any agency
Who exactly would be coming. Do we meet them first. What were they checked for. Who supervises them, and have they been in the house. The answers tell you more than the rate ever will.

Not the diagnosis — the household. That is what the matching is built from.
