Mobility Assistance and Fall Prevention in Lighthouse Point

A fall builds at one awkward corner, crossed twice daily, until the morning the corner finally wins.

Who helps matters here more than people expect

Technique is the obvious half — standing, turning and lowering done properly protects the helper as much as whoever is being helped. The less obvious half is confidence, which transfers from one person to another and does not transfer at all between strangers.

Somebody who already knows the route, the furniture and the person's own rhythm gets a safer walk than somebody technically competent on their first visit. Continuity is a safety measure here, not a nicety.

Mobility support is normally written into an existing visit, and the walk round the house happens at the assessment rather than as a separate appointment.

What the hour goes on

Steadying and supervision rather than therapy, with that line drawn in the plan first.

The awkward journeys

Bedroom to bathroom, chair to kitchen, hall to the car, supported where balance actually fails.

Standing and sitting

Rising, turning and lowering with proper technique, which keeps both people out of trouble.

Equipment as designed

A frame at the right height, a cane in the hand that helps, brakes on before anybody moves.

A walk round the house

Rugs, flexes, thresholds, lighting and the chair two inches too low. Written down and sent over.

Minor changes logged

Slower on the steps, a hand on the wall, less appetite for leaving the house. Recorded so a trend shows early.

Reasons to deal with it now

  • Somebody has fallen, or very nearly did
  • The furniture is being used as handrails
  • Rooms upstairs have fallen out of use
  • A frame is plainly being used wrongly
  • The front step or patio is being avoided

Point at the corner that keeps winning

Describe the journey rather than the condition and we will say what would make it safer.
